Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) chairman Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki has urged Malaysian celebrity Rozita Che Wan to meet with the agency and discuss the repayment of her loan payment.
Rozita has been making headlines nationwide recently after MARA revealed that she and her son, Ammar Effendy, had failed to repay loans with the agency worth nearly RM1 million since 2017.
MARA Chairman urges Malaysian actress to discuss repayment of her nearly RM1 million debt with the agency
Specifically, Rozita’s production company borrowed a loan of RM960,000 from MARA, and her son is the guarantor, with MARA already filing a bankruptcy proceeding against them.
Harian Metro quoted Dr Asyraf Wajdi as saying that the proceeding is actually the second court action initiated against Rozita, as the actress had failed to repay the loan for over 7 years.
He asserted,
“What’s important is for her to come to MARA to discuss. Now, what’s also important is for her to repay the loan as it’s been ongoing since 2017.”
Dr Asyraf Wajdi added that bankruptcy proceedings will only be halted if Rozita fully repays the loan, as MARA won’t give her any extension after the court has made a definitive decision on it.
It is understood that the celebrity has yet to meet and discuss with MARA regarding the restructuring and rescheduling of the loan.
