What a senseless tragedy!

A 60-year-old man from India was recently arrested after brutally murdering his wife all because she served dinner late, BBC News reported.

The man reportedly arrived home drunk on Saturday night (8th July) after which he proceeded to have an argument with his wife. His wife was upset with his drinking habit and wanted to talk about it, but he wanted to have dinner.

“He got frustrated with the delay and shot her,” said a senior police officer Rupesh Singh in Ghaziabad city near Delhi.

All because he wanted his meal???

The 55-year-old woman, Sunaina, was rushed to the hospital after she was shot, but she had already passed away at that time.

Susaina’s husband, Ashok Kumar, has reportedly confessed to murdering her and deeply regrets what he did.

According to the report, domestic violence has been the most reported violent crime against women in the country every year for more than a decade.

Although this issue is certainly not exclusively happening in India, what sets this country apart from the rest of the world is the culture of silence and approval surrounding it, according to BBC journalist Geeta Pandey in Delhi.

Such brutal acts of violence should be condemned by both the law and society. If we remain silent on this issue, it only adds fuel to the fire, causing more unnecessary deaths like this case.
