Remember the guy who honestly thought that his girlfriend didn’t want anything for Valentine’s Day? Well, he has spoken out!
In a Facebook post, that recently came to light when STOMP reported it, Gwee HungYen wanted to clarify the incident that took place on February 12, 2017 in Orchard Road, Singapore.
In the video of the argument that went viral, HungYen was pushed away by his own girlfriend. She could be heard scolding him and he went down on his knees begging for another chance.
Many netizens slammed the lad for ‘throwing’ his dignity away by doing so. Some even went as far as to say he wasn’t a man at all.
To reply these tactless comments, HungYen wrote,
“Firstly, I’m sorry to those that felt offended that I knelt down. I just want to say that there is a reason for me to kneel right before her.”
“However, everyone has their problems and their ways of settling their issue. And I guess I probably didn’t do it well. Personally, at that time I felt that kneeling was a way to show sincerity.”
“When people propose they also kneel to show sincerity, chivalry is not dead.”
“If a man truly loves a woman he will do the most unexpected things that he normally won’t do. I’m pretty sure everyone is the same? I do not want my ego to ruin our relationship.”
A bunch of people came in to support HungYen’s stance.
“He has good control of his emotions. Amazing control. Very smart man. He is destined to be a somebody in life,” one netizen wrote.
Previously, it was falsely reported by New Nation that the person involved was named Zhen Yuan Wang who thought his girlfriend did not want anything for Valentine’s Day.
HungYen explained that he had his own reasons for begging like that but did not want to disclose it.
“Sorry, I won’t be telling the reasons as I still need more time to accept the truth.”
HungYen also said that he is actually a Malaysian who is working and living in Singapore.
Whatever happened between you two, I hope things look better for you, bro.
