A foreign woman who was seven months pregnant was found dead in a rented house in Kota Tinggi, Johor.
According to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the police received a report from the public on Friday morning (13 February) about an unconscious woman discovered in a pool of blood. Officers were deployed to the scene, and medical personnel from Kota Tinggi Hospital later confirmed her death.

The murder weapon was determined to be a stone mortar
Kota Tinggi district police chief Superintendent Yusof Bin Hj Othman said that the suspect, who is also the victim’s husband, was arrested at the scene. Forensic investigations subsequently led to the discovery of the stone mortar believed to have been used in the attack.
The victim’s body was sent to Hospital Sultan Ismail in Johor Bahru for a post-mortem examination. For now, PDRM has not ruled out jealousy as a possible motive, according to Yusof’s official statement.

“She’s in the room. I killed her.”
The landlady, Atikah Sulaiman, told Harian Metro that the suspect approached her at dawn on Friday with his four-year-old daughter. Both appeared calm, as if nothing unusual had happened. The man told Atikah’s husband that he wanted to lodge a police report about his wife, whom he claimed was pregnant with someone else’s child.
When asked where his wife was, he casually replied, “She’s in the room. I killed her.”
Atikah and her husband initially thought he was joking, but the tragedy became clear when Atikah’s husband checked the rented unit. She added that the couple had just returned from Kuala Lumpur, where the man had sought treatment for mental health issues.
The couple had been renting from Atikah for five years, and during that time, neighbours never heard any arguments between them.
The suspect has been remanded for seven days to assist with investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
If found guilty, he may face the death sentence or a jail sentence of not more than 40 years, with 12 strokes of the cane.
