A man abandoned his Honda City vehicle at Kilometre 14.0 of the Penang Second Bridge, heading towards Batu Kawan, before he is believed to have fallen into the sea.
The victim, 33-year-old Wong Kah Wai, has yet to be found, and a search and rescue (SAR) operation is being carried out by the authorities.
According to a report by Kosmo, Assistant Director of the Fire and Rescue Operations Division of Penang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), John Sagun Francis shared that his department received a call for assistance from the Malaysian Maritime Force regarding the incident that occurred at 4:23 am this morning (July 2).

He added that the rescue operation involves members from the Bayan Baru Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) with the assistance of the Bagan Jermal BBP Water Rescue Team (PPDA).
“The search and rescue operation was coordinated by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (Maritim Malaysia) with logistical support from a boat, including assistance from the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM), the marine police, and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).”
“The search area was also carried out around the location where the victim is believed to have fallen using the ‘Water Surface Searching’ method, and has been divided into 4 sectors. It is clear that the victim had left a Honda City vehicle on the side of the Penang Second Bridge,” he said.
The search operation for the victim is still ongoing.
