A Malaysian single father, who was raising a 5-year-old girl by himself while trying to earn money to pay for his divorce proceedings, sadly passed away in an accident.

According to a report by China Press, the 30-year-old man passed away on Friday (June 20) at around 3:15pm, when he was heading back to Malaysia from Singapore after work.

He was riding his motorcycle when a lorry in front of him suddenly braked, causing him to hit the truck and fall to the road. A garbage truck from behind was unable to avoid the man and ran over his head, leading to an instant death.

He was in the process of a divorce that started last year after his wife left him and their daughter 4 years ago.

He worked 2 jobs to earn a living for his loved ones

Besides working in Singapore for 11 years as an electrician, he also worked part-time as a delivery rider after commuting back to Johor after work.

The man’s sister shared that the man is the 3rd child and eldest son among 8 siblings, and he was a simple yet hardworking man.

“He has elderly parents and a young child to support, so he has been working hard to support his family, and even goes out to earn extra money after getting off work,” she said.

His younger brother said that he would go to work in Singapore at 4am every day. After arriving at his workplace, he would take a nap until 7am before starting work. He would then finish work at 3pm and return to Johor Bahru, where he would rest until 7pm before starting his part-time job.

Besides wanting to give his daughter a stable life, he also wanted to raise money to pay for his divorce proceedings.

What will happen to his daughter?

His sister explained that their family, despite having financial difficulties, will strive to gain custody of the man’s daughter. She also shared that all of his siblings will work together to raise her should they get custody of her.

She said that the man had been worried about his daughter as her mother left her when she was very young, and he would head back to Batu Pahat every weekend to spend time with his daughter.

“She is only 5-years-old. Although she doesn’t quite understand what death is, she couldn’t help but cry when she saw her father’s body.”

Our sincerest condolences to the man’s loved ones.
