There’s a reason why we were warned not to put our hands out of the bus window when we were young.

Just recently (November 2018), a man’s arm was terribly severed after getting hit by an incoming bus all because he hung his arm outside the window. This horrifying incident happened along EDSA-Kamuning in Quezon City, Philippines.

According to Coconuts Manila, a Facebook user who claimed to be onboard the same bus said the unidentified victim was sleeping with his arm hanging out of the window when the gruelling incident happened. He cried in excruciating pain and his cries drew the attention of bystanders.

The authorities were immediately alerted and the rescue team from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) came to provide first aid. He was then sent to the East Avenue Medical Center in the city for emergency treatment.

Another witness who was at the scene said the victim had to suffer for a long time as the first-aid team took quite a while to arrive at the scene. “I pity him, he keeps crying,” the witness said.

The video of him screaming for help was uploaded on Facebook and garnered mixed reactions among netizens. Some expressed their sympathy while others questioned why didn’t anyone send the victim to a hospital since there were so many bystanders at that time.

We’re not sure if the man’s arm was reattached after the incident but we sincerely pray for his speedy recovery. So guys, keep your hands within the vehicle at all times!
