He got caught after returning to the house

Southwest District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Sazalee Adam, said initial investigations revealed the suspect had entered the house through the back door while the maid had stepped out to bring out the trash.

He said the suspect initially managed to flee upon being spotted by the complainant, but later returned to the house to retrieve a personal item he had left behind.

“That’s when the complainant and his friends managed to catch him and hand him over to a Mobile Patrol Vehicle (MPV) unit patrolling Zone 3, Batu Maung,” he added.

The suspect tested positive for drugs

Sazalee added that a urine test showed the suspect tested positive for methamphetamine, amphetamine, and benzodiazepine, and also had a prior record related to drug offences.

The suspect is being brought to the Balik Pulau Magistrate’s Court today (August 5) for a remand order application.

“Police urge the public to always ensure that all doors and windows are securely locked and that home security systems are functioning properly to avoid any unwanted incidents,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 448 of the Penal Code for house trespassing.
