Alright, we’re sure a lot of you out there are pretty stingy when it comes to applying for annual leave, which is why getting an MC is preferred for most working Malaysians.
This recent news however, takes things to another extreme!
According to The Star, an employer, who was suspicious of his employee’s medical certificate (MC), ended up discovering a syndicate that forges and sells fake MCs from the Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Baru.
These fake MCs were mainly sold to civil servants and Malaysians who were working in Singapore, at RM25 a piece.
The syndicate was discovered by authorities after an employer inquired about his employee’s MC to the hospital’s management.
State commercial crime chief Asst Comm Mohd Salleh Abdullah addressed the case to the press earlier this week, saying,
“Fake MCs with the hospital’s rubber stamp bearing its name and serial number were sold at RM25 each to buyers through a middleman.”
Raids were carried out to catch the perpetrators who took part in this illegal syndicate last week. So far, two arrests have been made.
60 fake MCs with serial numbers, five fake MCs with serial numbers, the rubber stamp of a medical officer, seven fake MCs without serial numbers, three rolls of yellow paper and 59 pieces of the front cover book for the MCs were found during the raids last week.
On top of that, the police also found 6 rubber stamps with the names of 6 different doctors, and two other stamps bearing the names of medical officers working at nearby outpatient clinics.
Honestly, we’re wondering how much money these guys have made from selling all those MCs!
