Sad news, fellow Malaysian drivers!
For those of you who frequently use the Federal Highway (especially if you’re from Klang or Shah Alam), you’re sure to be familiar with this cute white bear near the Batu Tiga toll that has always been a part of our daily commute.
The Blöndal Bear has been somewhat of a permanent fixture on the Federal Highway for the last 10 years, and many drivers have used it as a landmark or checkpoint of sorts.
In a report by the Malay Mail, Blöndal is actually a Swedish electrical appliance maker. The famous white bear is apparently a homage to the founder’s Icelandic heritage.
Sadly, according to a Facebook post that has been quickly circulating since it was posted yesterday (5th June), the adorable white bear has moved out! 🙁
For many of us millennials from Klang or Shah Alam, the Blöndal bear was definitely an integral part of our childhoods.
Whenever we would travel from KL or Subang Jaya on the Federal Highway, as soon as the bear came into view, we would know that it wouldn’t be long before we reached home or our destination!
The bear was also a frequent landmark used whenever we gave people directions to our homes, and people would never miss it!
Needless to say, Malaysian netizens were saddened by the news of the iconic bear being taken down.
We’re definitely going to miss this adorable white bear! :'(
