Yet another awesome granny (or should we say great-granny) has come into Malaysia’s spotlight this time!
According to The Star, an elderly woman from Kedah is reportedly 121 years old, making her 4 years older than the official oldest person in the world.
That’s super super old! I mean, if you were 21 years old right now, that means you have another 100 years to live! X_X
Puan binti Ahmad claimed to have been born on the 12th of April 1896 in Kodiang, Kedah. She’s commonly known as Tok Puan, and reportedly has 4 children, 19 grandchildren, and 60 great grandchildren.
According to Tok Puan, she has outlived 6 husbands and attributes her long life to eating lots of raw vegetables.
Although Tok Puan is older than 117 year-old Violet Brown from Jamaica (the official oldest person in the world), the issue of technicalities has prevented her from gaining the title instead.
In a famous report by Sinar Harian back in 2012, Tok Puan’s Identity Card (IC) was the subject of nationwide attention, as her IC number starts with the number “96”, which implies that she was born in 1996 instead of 1896!
So who knows what her real age is!
Because of her confusing IC number, Tok Puan faced many difficulties and even got rejected by the 1 Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) scheme.
This unfortunate technicality is probably the reason why she hasn’t been named the official oldest person in the world, and the title instead went to Violet Brown.
Such a shame, but we’re still proud of this amazing great-granny for living her life!
