While most of us are good human beings, there are some monsters in this world who walk among us and intend to cause harm. Just yesterday, a 29-year-old Iban man was sentenced by the Sarikei court for attempted rape.

According to Oriental Daily, the accused was charged with attempting to rape a two-and-a-half year old girl in her own home. Seriously, what’s wrong with him?! On May 30, the accused, who was friends with the little girl’s mother, was invited to the longhouse to celebrate the Gawai Dayak festival at around 10pm.
Upon arriving, the mother invited him in to wait for the celebration to start while she headed to the kitchen to help prepare food for the upcoming festivities. Meanwhile, her daughter was sleeping soundly in the bedroom. The mother was in the kitchen when she suddenly heard the sound of her baby daughter crying, so she immediately rushed to the bedroom.

That was when she was shocked to see the man half-naked, as he had stripped down his pants and underwear while her poor daughter was already naked and crying. For goodness sake, she’s a baby! Seeing that he was caught red-handed, the man quickly fled from the scene.

The girl’s mother lodged a police report the next morning and the accused was arrested. The judge sentenced him to 15 years in jail and four strokes of the cane.
Yes, put him behind bars so that the kids will stay safe from predators like him!
