Malaysia has been recognised as one of the five best nations in the world in containing the widespread Covid-19 pandemic.
“The people’s acceptance of government action has gained recognition in a global survey. Malaysia is ranked among the top five countries in the world, with the highest public approval,” said Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri in a daily press conference yesterday for Covid-19 updates.
Ismail Sabri went on to add that while Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, was faced with the challenging decision of imposing the Movement Control Order (MCO) on 18th March, followed by the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) in several other areas to curb the spread of outbreaks among the community, as reported by Harian Metro and Malay Mail.
“Today is the 89th day of the MCO, which had certainly been difficult in the initial stages, more so when the EMCO entailing a full lockdown on businesses and movement, was enforced in the affected areas.”
The Defence Minister added that it was the good cooperation of all Malaysians who complied with every directive issued that enabled the government to flatten the Covid-19 curve. “With the people’s support and profound sacrifices of our frontliners, we have successfully controlled the spread and flattened the Covid-19 curve,” said Ismail Sabri.
In conjunction with this good news, Ismail Sabri announced that there will no longer be a daily MCO press conference. Instead, the press conference for daily MCO updates will only be held three times a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Good job, Malaysians! Let’s keep it up.
