Mahathir Officially Steps Down as Pejuang’s Chairman, Will Remain as a Member

The rumours that former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has allegedly stepped down as Parti Pejuang Tanah Air’s (Pejuang) chairman have become a reality.

In a statement shared by Pejuang president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, Pejuang announced that they have accepted Mahathir’s decision to step down as chairman of the party.

Mukhriz Mahathir said the party’s Central Executive Council and members nationwide held Mahathir’s services, thoughts, guidance and leadership throughout his tenure as party chairman in high esteem.

“Pejuang will strive to ensure that Tun’s (Dr Mahathir) way of thinking and leadership style, which are based on principles and pure cultural values are emulated by the next generation.”

“We express our endless appreciation to Ayahanda Tun. Only Allah SWT can repay his services to us,” he said in a statement here today.

Meanwhile, Mukhriz said Pejuang will continue Mahathir’s struggles, legacy and spirit for the religion, nation and country.

Despite his resignation from the post, it was stated that Mahathir will remain as a member of Pejuang.

“Despite stepping down as chairman, Tun remains a member of Pejuang. We believe Tun will continue to give constructive and critical views on the future of Malaysia as an outstanding statesman.”
