A lorry driver’s attempt to escape a police inspection by driving against traffic for 150 kilometres ended badly when he was arrested in Taman Bunga Raya, Bukit Beruntung, today (30 November).
Hulu Selangor District Police Chief, Superintendent Ibrahim Husin, said they received a call from a patrol unit at 5:35 AM informing that a lorry had refused to stop when flagged down.

According to him, the driver exited towards the North-South Expressway via the Bukit Beruntung Toll Plaza.
“The driver then drove against traffic for 150 km, starting from Bukit Beruntung Toll Plaza to Sungai Buloh Toll Plaza, before turning back to Bukit Beruntung Toll Plaza.”
“The suspect also drove dangerously and attempted to ram the patrol vehicle as police tried to stop the lorry,” he said in a statement.
Ibrahim said police later managed to arrest a local man in Taman Bunga Raya, Bukit Beruntung, and seized a Mitsubishi lorry.
Tests positive for drugs
He explained that the 40-year-old suspect, who works as a lorry driver, has two prior drug-related offenses and one criminal record.
“His urine test came back positive for methamphetamine,” he said.
He added that the suspect will be brought to the Kuala Kubu Baharu Magistrate’s Court tomorrow for a remand application.

“The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code, Section 186 of the Penal Code, and Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he added.
A video clip recently went viral showing a lorry driving dangerously against traffic in the right lane of the North-South Expressway while being persued.
The situation nearly caused an accident, but oncoming vehicles managed to avoid the lorry.
