Enhanced MCO will be imposed in three residential colleges at University Malaysia Sabah (UMS) in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah starting tomorrow (5 April 2021).
Minister of Defense Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that the decision is made after the briefing of the Ministry of Health and consultation with various agencies. The respective colleges are KK Tun Mustapha, KK Tun Fuad and KK Tun Pengiran Ahmad Rafae.
Ismail Sabri added that to date, 19 out of 133 people that have been screened, tested positive for the virus. “The Ministry of Health confirmed that the Covid-19 virus had spread among the students of the three residential colleges and the infective rate is high,” he added, according to Malaysiakini.
The enhanced MCO will begin on 5 April to 18 April 2021. The lockdown is to monitor the movement of the inhabitants so that the virus will not spread from the residential colleges to the community.
Besides, following an increase of Covid-19 cases in Kampung Pagalungan Ansip in Keningau and Kampung Kalindukan in Nabawan, enhanced MCO will be implemented in these two villages starting 5 April midnight until 18 April 2021.
The MCO in the Keningau district will also be extended until 18 April 2021.
