When two badminton legends meet and learn Bahasa Melayu!

Yesterday, former Malaysian badminton player Datuk Lee Chong Wei uploaded a video on TikTok, showcasing how he teaches his former Chinese rival and friend Lin Dan the Malay language.

“Have you ever wondered how Lin Dan sounded speaking Malay? Again, thank you Lin Dan bro, for being accommodative yet again” the caption says. Using Bahasa Melayu, Lee Chong Wei started the video saying, “Now I’m with Lin Dan here, I want to teach him Bahasa Melayu”.

He first teaches Lin Dan how to say “Apa Khabar”, which means “How Are You?”, and then “Terima Kasih”, which means “Thank you”. Lin Dan repeated the words almost perfectly, and asked if he was doing good.

Lee then teaches Lin the next phrase, I love you, in Malay, which is “Aku Cinta Kamu”. Lin Dan said it twice, and pointed at Lee Chong Wei the second time he said it. Both of them laughed and did a high-five handshake.

The video received more than 150k likes at the time of writing. Many netizens are happy to see the two badminton legends together again. Some even said that Lin Dan sounds good when speaking Malay.
