Despite showing a battling display in the AFC Asian Cup, Malaysia was unable to avoid an early exit after losing two games in a row.
In heartbreaking fashion, Malaysia had repelled everything their opponents threw at them and looked to have done enough to come away with a creditable point — until the fifth minute of injury-time when Ali Madan’s goal secured a 1-0 victory for Bahrain over the Harimau Malaya, cementing their fate for this round’s Asia Cup.
Taking the blame, Kim Pang Gon had this to say during his post-match interview, “Maybe I gave too big of a dream to my players. Maybe I gave too big of a hope to the public.”
“It is my fault. As a coach this is my problem. It is not the problem of the FA, my players and the public. All of this is the coach’s problem.”
Answering the naysayers, here are several choice comments from netizens commenting on the video.
“When it comes to netizens, they only show support for the team when they are winning. When they lose, they act as if they are football experts.”

Yeah, well, netizens will be netizens. Let’s hope that Malaysia will continue to show their fighting spirit in their last match against tournament favourites, South Korea.
