KOSSAN Group has confirmed that 427 of its employees at one of their plants located in the Klang district have tested positive for Covid-19 on 11 December 2020.
In a media statement shared with WORLD OF BUZZ, they said that a group-wide screening programme started on 4 December 2020 in collaboration with Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) and Qualitas Medical Group and is expected to complete on 17 December.
They are targeting more than 8,000 employees at all nine plant premises and three corporate premises in accordance with the government’s directives on mandatory screenings for foreign workers.
“On Kossan’s part we are including also our local workers for the exercise to ensure the health and safety of our workers and our workplaces as a whole,” the statement said.
“As the group-wide screening programme is still ongoing and we are working closely with the relevant authorities, namely the Ministry of Health (MOH), SOCSO and local councils, reporting of official Covid-19 figures will be done by the MOH.”
They said that all detected cases have been handed over to MOH for further care and reporting and added that employees at the affected plant premises are undergoing quarantine and isolation while the plant is undergoing disinfection and sanitisation procedures.
Reopening stages is expected to begin on 21 December 2020.

“The corporate voluntary exercise of the screening programme which the Company is undertaking is one of the methodologies in helping our country and government efforts in mitigating, containing and preventing the widespread of the pandemic.”
