If there’s one thing Malaysians can agree on, it’s that our famous Petronas Twin Towers are quite a sight to behold and that it’s definitely a must-see attraction for anyone visiting Kuala Lumpur.
They’re currently the tallest towers in Southeast Asia at an impressive 452 metres, but it looks like that’s about to change pretty soon!
The Exchange 106, one of the newest skyscrapers on the block, has been under construction for the past 19 months. According to the Malay Mail, its height has already reached 450 metres, and it’s not planning on stopping there!
This means that once it’s complete, the skyscraper will surpass the Petronas Twin Towers at 492.3 metres, making it the new tallest building in Southeast Asia.
According to a statement from Mulia Property Development Sdn Bhd, the owners and developers of The Exchange 106, stated that the building is set to be completed by June 2018. An excerpt from the statement reads,
“The Exchange 106 entered into the limelight over the last 12 months, setting industry benchmarks for work methods, quality of materials and most noticeably, the speed at which it has progressed.”
“Turning the mandate to work around the clock into an absolute advantage, site coordination has been refined into a well-oiled production-line efficiency.”
“Work processes have sped up since they became more efficient and well-organised. Expected completion of all trades by middle of 2018 to facilitate its opening by third quarter of next year.”
The Exchange 106 will reportedly have a total of 106 floors along with 8 basement levels.
To top things off, the skyscraper will also have a “dazzling glass crown illuminated by LED lights”. Sounds fancy!
Well, we definitely can’t wait to check out this skyscraper once it’s completed. Of course, the Twin Towers will always have a special place in our hearts!
