As we embrace the new normal in our way of living, we need to be constantly reminded that if there is nothing better or more important to do outside, it is safer for us to stay at home. The number of new cases has dwindled but that does not mean we can be too comfortable. What’s comforting right now is that Malaysia is doing all what it will take to detect the infection as early as possible and take immediate measures to control the spread.
Yesterday, the Ministry of Health (KKM) released the number of screenings that we have done so far on Twitter. KKM tweeted,
“Until 15 May, KKM has screened 424,306 individuals where 6,855 were found positive and 417,451 were negative. This makes the positive level is 1.62%. When the individual numbers screened is 13 over 1,000 people in the population. This shows that Malaysia is among the highest in ASEAN for Covid-19 screening.”

Hopefully, with more tests done, we can nip the start of any new cluster in the bud. Early detection matters but as responsible citizens, what we can do is to limit our movements. It is best to just stay at home. Let’s make that little sacrifice this Hari Raya and postpone the great celebrations till next year. Be safe everyone!
