It has been several months since the 14th General Election, and Pakatan Harapan (PH) has been putting in a lot of effort in order to fulfil the dream of a “New Malaysia”.
That said, building a brand new Malaysia seemed to be the primary purpose of the government because Lim Kit Siang has said that if the promise of new Malaysia isn’t fulfilled then DAP (Democratic Action Party) will not hesitate to leave the PH coalition.
Malaysiakini reported that Lim Kit Siang assured that they (DAP) would never be as “spineless” as the MCA (Malaysian Chinese Association) leaders.
The Iskandar Puteri MP was quoted as saying,
“DAP leaders are in government to play an important role to build a New Malaysia and save it from becoming a sham democracy, kakistocracy, failed state and global kleptocracy.”
Therefore, for that very reason, DAP will not turn to become another MCA even after being a part of the ruling coalition.
His aforementioned statements were in response to a Facebook post by businessman Clement Hii. In the post, Clement wrote that the veteran politician became upset when Clement mentioned that the public may look at DAP as another MCA if it didn’t continue pushing its reform agenda. His post is as shown below:
FOR A BETTER MALAYSIA, HE NEVER GAVE UP: He got agitated when I mentioned people might see DAP as another MCA if it…

Nonetheless, Clement also praised Lim Kit Siang in his post for his perseverance as he fights for a better Malaysia when “lesser mortals would have given up”. The DAP leader thanked Clement for his compliment and said,
“It bears emphasising that DAP has no intention and will never become MCA 2.”
“There are many reasons why DAP will never become MCA 2, but I will cite only five.”
From the five reasons he gave, here are four of them:
1. DAP is a multi-racial party which is devoted to the well-being and welfare of all races. Therefore, it’s not mono-ethnic like MCA. It represents all Malaysians including the Chinese, Malays, Indians, Kadazans, Ibans or Orang Asli.
2. Their leaders fight for the rights and interest of all races, as long as they are Malaysian. For this reason, back in the ’90s, Lim Guan Eng sacrificed his political rights to defend the rights and dignity of an underaged Malay girl. Following that, Guan Eng was disqualified as an MP and he was jailed for a whole year in the Kajang prison. His right to vote and hold elective was also taken away for five years.
3. DAP wants its leaders and member to be in politics for the sole purpose of serving the nation, not for wealth, titles or position.
4. DAP’s politics of multi-racialism is the only way to form “a united and successful” Malaysia, thus mono-ethnicity can never unite Malaysia.
Well, those are some strong statements made by Lim Kit Siang. We hope that DAP will work even harder towards building a better Malaysia. What do you think of the DAP leader’s statements? Let us know in the comments below!
