Despite being dethroned in terms of sales last year by its brother Bezza, the Perodua MyVi is still arguably the ‘king of the road’ in our country, especially considering the many ‘achievements’ and antics the car series have been involved in on the road.
Nothing exemplifies this more than a recent clip making its rounds online, which depicts a white Myvi casually driving across a river in Penampang, Sabah.
MyVi casually drives across river in Sabah
As shared by @laychannel05 on TikTok, a video showed the white Myvi driving across a shallow river but with a strong current to get to the other side at the Timpangoh road in Penampang, Sabah. Furthermore, the post revealed that the river is named the Sungai Moyog.
Despite the strong current and being right next to a cascade, the white MyVi can be seen confidently and slowly driving across the river, largely unaffected by the current.
At the end of the 36-second video, the MyVi managed to drive a considerable distance across the river and safely made it to the other side, as another vehicle, which looked to be a Perodua Bezza, was waiting for its turn to cross Sungai Moyog.

Only route to get to the village, which is on the other side of the river
In the comments section, it was revealed that road users actually have to cross the river to get to the other side, as that’s the only route connecting to a village across the river.
Nevertheless, many Malaysians found the MyVi driver’s action bold. The vehicle is relatively light compared to 4-wheel-drive pickup trucks, which normally navigate through the current.
One commenter said that the driver had the right technique, whereby it slowly drove through the shallow river rather than at high speed as the latter would make you more susceptible to the strong current.
Meanwhile, another commenter was perplexed as to why there was no alternative route to get to the village across the river.
Besides that, one commenter theorised that the MyVi must’ve brought a heavy load inside the vehicle, which is why the driver was confident about crossing the river.
