These days, there are many rumours about kidnappings going on that make us paranoid about the safety of our young ones.
On 1 October, a Vietnamese Facebook page posted a video of a kindergarten class. In that class, the teacher was dressed like a kidnapper and offered some snacks to a child.
The child took the snack and was snatched by the “kidnapper”. A child dressed in an orange shirt stood up to help while others started crying.
When the “kidnapper” came back and offered snacks to the others, they did not dare to take the tasty treat. The boy in orange once again tried to protect the child that was next to him by putting an arm over the child.
More snacks and surprise eggs were offered to the rest of the class but they all refused with a look of fear on their face.
This video has gone viral on Facebook with 9.2 million views and it was shared on TikTok by a Malaysian with the username @nshyafira. The video went viral on TikTok as well with more than 3 million views.
Many Malaysian netizens believe that simulating a kidnapping might scar the kids but it is a lesson that they need to learn.
“This is good. Because children are more aware of things that they see rather than what we say.”
“Letting them cry is better than us crying. It’s not about scaring them but more so about letting them understand. This is a good idea.”
“This is traumatic for the children but it’s something they will remember even when they grow up. Believe that.”
Others praised the bravery of the boy in orange.
“The boy in the orange shirt should be the class monitor.”
“The boy in orange is a protective brother.”

Both children and adults are susceptible to kidnappings, so make sure that everyone in your family is aware of stranger danger.
