For the past few days, the issue of PosLaju riders has been going viral all over social media as it was claimed that they won’t be receiving any bonuses despite working overtime delivering all our parcels. Netizens rallied together and created an online petition to make sure these riders get their bonuses. In response to this, Pos Malaysia said that even though there is a surge of parcel volume during the MCO, it is not enough to cushion the impact the Covid-19 pandemic has caused on their business.

Feeling the struggles of our riders, a teacher posted on Facebook of how she helped a Poslaju rider and how she thinks all of us can chip in with our own little ways.

Syikin Zahir said how she received a package yesterday and the cash-on-delivery amount was RM7.50. While she and her husband were finding for small change, they just decided to give the rider an even RM10 with RM2.50 as tips. This got her thinking about how Malaysians collectively can start helping PosLaju riders.

“Why don’t we give a ringgit or two (the more the better!) for the postmen when they deliver goods to our house? Since we can’t force Pos Malaysia to pay them bonus. So let’s focus on what we can do.”

She added that since Raya is in a few days, why not put the money in Raya themed envelopes and spread the joy! “Not only for PosLaju riders, but you can also give them to any delivery riders regardless of the company,” she said.

While Syikin didn’t force any of us, it’s a great idea to help these overworked riders. So, next time when you receive a delivery, why not give them some duit raya? I’m sure it’ll make their day!
