Sam Ke Ting’s accident which involved 8 kids on modified bikes, better known as Basikal Lajak should’ve been a solid reminder and lesson to other road users out there, especially the youth who love risking their lives by riding Basikal Lajak on the road.
We guess if the death of those 8 kids doesn’t work in spreading awareness, nothing will. In a viral TikTok post by an anonymous Malaysian, 3 kids on Basikal Lajak were recently spotted on a narrow road in Gombak, Selangor. All 3 kids were going Superman on their bikes as if they were zooming in the air.
One of the kids even had his bike on the lane in the opposite direction near a corner. Can you imagine how dangerous is that? After noticing the car behind them, the kids made way for the car to overtake.
Given how narrow the road was, the driver had to overtake by driving on the other lane to avoid hitting the kids on the Basikal Lajak.
The kid in the yellow shirt maintained his “lying flat” position on the bike when the driver overtook them.
“If I see my family members riding the Basikal Lajak, I would’ve sold the bike.”
“I was in the car with my cousin, and there was a kid on Basikal Lajak in front of us. My cousin accidentally hit the kid because he stopped his bike all of a sudden.”
“I thought the generation of Basikal Lajak kids were gone. Didn’t know they’re still out there.”
“I hope the tragedies and history will not repeat itself.”
“I guess this is fine, but not concerts.”

It doesn’t make you look cool when you perform dangerous stunts on the road. When accidents happen, it’s not just about the injuries but also the legal consequences that are bound to follow especially if the accident involves multiple parties.
