Another day, another water supply issue in Kelantan. We really mean the state no harm but to think of the fate of some residents there who are still struggling for clean water during these modern times breaks our hearts.
Despite multiple efforts by the state government to handle the water issue, some people in the state continue to survive with murky water for daily use but Kelantan’s deputy MB, Amar Nik Abdullah does not think it’s a major issue. He claimed that villagers in affected areas can cope with it and are able to come up with a solution themselves.
“They can dig their own wells to get clean water underground. So, not having tap water is not a big deal,” Amar said as reported by China Press.
More funds and more good news, please!
The politician also put the blame partially on the federal government, whom he said is not giving enough financial help to solve the longstanding water issues in the state.
“To solve this, we need hundreds of millions of ringgit. But we only got millions of ringgit.”
In the meantime, Amar also believed that they are not doing enough to “promote” the good news that is actually happening in the state. According to him, water issues in some districts of the state have been resolved but somehow, the news are not being talked about, which is a downside.
“We don’t go around and spread the good news, which to me is our weakness.”
He also denied that the state government is turning a blind eye on the water issues in the state, and he proved it by saying that water trucks will always be deployed to the areas with affected water.
Other parties who got the blame were BN and DAP in the state, whom Amar said are not doing anything to help, but merely hyping up the water issues.
“For the coming state elections, they’re not even stating anything about solving water issues in their manifestos,” Amar said.
Do you think Amar should be giving credits to the villagers for solving issues on their own in such a situation? Regardless of who’s governing the state, we do hope the water issue will be solved, for the sake of the people there.
