The Form 5 students involved in the Melaka classroom gang rape have been expelled from the school, with immediate effect.
Director-General of Education, Mohd Azam Ahmad, in a press conference today (13 October), confirmed the matter and said the decision was made by the School Disciplinary Board.

Yes, they’re allowed to sit for the SPM examination, but…
In his statement, Azam also clarified that while all 4 suspects are still allowed to sit for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination, but not in the same school.
“They have to sit for their SPM in a detention centre, or a separate place.”
Azam also clarified that, despite being allowed to sit for the examinations, the suspects, who are currently in police custody, will NOT escape punishment.
“It doesn’t mean they won’t be punished. Their SPM examination, which will commence next month, will not interfere with the ongoing investigation.”
“Their rights as students and SPM candidates will still be granted, and the matter is now being handled by the authorities.”

For illustration purposes
All suspects are being remanded by the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) until 16 October, and the Ministry of Education (MOE), in a statement on Saturday (11 October), assured all Malaysians that no one will be protected in this case.
The victim is currently undergoing treatment and psychotherapy sessions at the hospital.
