The traders are definitely heaving a sigh of relief now!
In his press conference today, Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri announced that the Movement Control Order will be imposed in six districts in Selangor. While the SOPs for these areas are the same as other previous MCOs, one aspect to note is that Ramadan bazaars will still be allowed to operate.
Despite this, social activities in these areas are still not allowed. The minister also announced the long-awaited list of SOPs for Hari Raya that is to be celebrated by Malaysians next week. The SOPs include:
- Solat (prayer) Hari Raya Aidilfitri is allowed in all areas except those under EMCO
- In areas under MCO, visitations are only allowed on the first day of Raya with a maximum of 15 people
- Homeowners are encouraged to prepare a temperature recording device and MySejahtera QR code
- For those visiting cemeteries, only six people are allowed per plot for not more than 30 minutes. This only applies to areas under CMCO and RMCO
- Open houses are NOT allowed
- Further precision of SOPs will be under the respective state’s religious department
