The million-dollar question is now answered – toll exemption for Deepavali has been greenlit!
Following the discussions with relevant departments, the Ministry of Works has confirmed that road users do NOT need to pay toll fares for 2 days starting tomorrow until Sunday (November 11 until November 12). The toll exemption came in conjunction with the Deepavali celebration, which falls on this Sunday.
The minister, Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the free toll will commence tonight at 12:01 am and ends at 11:59 pm on Sunday.
Malaysians can enjoy the toll exemption everywhere except at these 2 places,
- Plaza Tol Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI), the connecting toll to Singapore.
- Plaza Tol Tanjung Kupang, Johor.
“This initiative is launched to celebrate all Malaysians, especially the Indians who will be celebrating Deepavali this weekend,” Alexander said, according to Berita Harian.
We’re sure Malaysians are thrilled about this news, and we truly appreciate the efforts to make this happen. As we’re headed into a long weekend, be sure to plan your journey and drive safely!
