A woman’s plan to go back to her hometown in style with a recently bought red Honda Jazz for Hari Raya Aidilfitri was foiled by the Kedah Road Transport Department (JPJ Kedah) after the car was seized in Alor Setar for using a fake plate registration number.

Taking to its official Facebook page, JPJ Kedah revealed that its enforcement department seized the vehicle, believed to be a clone car, during its special operation for Hari Raya, aptly named ‘Ops Khas Hari Raya’.

JPJ Kedah added that according to its sources, the woman bought the car from an agent under an alleged “sambung bayar” scheme, or an arrangement where the buyer continues to pay the monthly instalment for the original owner.

However, checks by the department found that the Honda Jazz was using a fake plate registration number and is likely a ‘clone car’.

JPJ Kedah then reminded the public that clone cars are not only against the law in Malaysia but also pose a danger to other road users.

The department further revealed that the Honda Jazz was seized and sent to the JPJ Kedah depot for further action.
