Just one day after starting his new job, an illegal cab driver was detained by JPJ in Bandar Sunway, Petaling Jaya, yesterday (August 24).
The driver, an Indian national holding a Probationary Driver’s License, had charged RM180 for a trip from Bandar Sunway to KLIA.
The unusually high fare was noticed by a JPJ officer who found a receipt on the driver, believed to be in his 30s.

Selangor JPJ Director Azrin Borhan said the man, who was only on his first day of work, claimed he was helping his company by transporting passengers.
A Toyota Innova registered under a private company was seized by JPJ.
“JPJ Selangor is taking this issue seriously, and we will continue our enforcement operations. We will also continue to investigate all complaints lodged by the public,” Azrin said.
JPJ also emphasised that registered vehicle owners are not allowed to arbitrarily permit foreigners to drive or misuse the Motor Vehicle License for business purposes.
In Kuala Lumpur, three vehicles including two driven by foreigners, were seized by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) of the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur (WPKL) after being found involved in similar illegal activities.

Summonses were issued to both the drivers and vehicle owners under Section 80 and Section 16(1) of the Land Public Transport Act (APAD), the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333), and related regulations.
JPJ urges the public to report road offences via the MyJPJ app (e-Aduan) or by emailing ym.vog.jpj@kifartnauda with complete details to assist enforcement efforts, Harian Metro reported.
