A mother in Johor woke up to find her son seriously injured by a sharp weapon

Assistant Commissioner Shahrulnuar Mushaddat, the district’s Police Chief, said that the 40-year-old mother woke up at 5:30 AM, and was shocked to find her 6-year-old son severely injured on his neck.

He said an investigation is being conducted under Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt by using a weapon or a dangerous object, as the PDRM believed that the victim was injured by a sharp weapon.

The attacker and the motive behind the attack, however, are still unknown

At the time of writing, the images of the incident are circulating on social media, but Shahrulnuar reminded social media users not to spread the images further, especially without confirmation or verified information of the case, as it may interfere with the investigation.

“The case is still at an early stage and further investigations are being carried out to determine the motive behind the incident,” Shahrulnuar said in a statement.

The spreading of the images is also an offence, Shahrulnuar reminded Malaysians.

“The public is also reminded that the act of circulating photos of victims can be investigated under Section 15 of the Children’s Act 2001.”
