As it turns out, the object, which was laying by the pool of the recreation park is actually a mortar-type bomb.

As reported by BERNAMA, Ipoh District Police Chief ACP Yahaya Hassan said that the police received a call from the jogger at about 3pm informing of the discovery of the mortar bomb.

He added that upon arrival at the scene, the police cordoned off an area of about 500 metres around the object so that the public couldn’t approach the pool.

While the object has been confirmed to be a mortar bomb, checks by the police bomb disposal unit thankfully discovered that it didn’t contain explosives. Yahaya asserted,

“The Perak contingent police headquarters bomb disposal unit arrived at the scene and found a mortar bomb measuring 300 mm (millimetres) long, 60mm wide and did not contain explosives and was used for training,”
