Like its name, the restaurant is located at the back of a small alleyway in Ampang. Everything on the menu is handmade, including the pasta. The crowd-favourite is their Squid Ink Tagliolini Carbonara. They also serve other Italian dishes like Charred Cauliflower with Pesto Diavolo and Pecorino Romano.

Though the menu may seem limited, all their food is finessed to perfection to give you a taste of authentic Italian cuisine. They also like to introduce many special menus that will only be available from time to time, which certainly makes it interesting!

The intimate interior of this restaurant can only accommodate about eight diners at a time, so it’s a must to make a reservation beforehand. However, you might need to book as early as two months in advance.

Operating hours: 5:30PM-10PM (closed on Mondays)
Status: Non-halal

2. Jama KL, Mont Kiara

Jama KL is the perfect place for brunch or a wholesome reunion with loved ones. The extensive menu covers everything from brunch items to Italian dishes, Asian fusion delicacies, and, best of all, handmade pasta. The must-try kinds of pasta are the Cured Duck Yolk Carbonara and Roasted Pepper Pesto. Diners have also been raving about their Chicken & Coconut and Pulled Burrata & Tomatoes.

As the restaurant has been trending lately, we recommend making a reservation before you head over to avoid waiting or disappointment.

Operating hours: 9AM-7PM (closed on Mondays)
Status: Pork-free but some dishes may contain alcohol

3. Pento’s & Basil, Bukit Jalil

Located just a 2-minute walk from Pavilion Bukit Jalil, this is another restaurant specialising in Italian cuisine. It is rapidly gaining hype for its amazing pasta. If you’re here for the first time, you can start by trying out their crowd-favourite pasta: the Carbonara Classic Cream Sauce and Mushroom Ragout Gnocchi.

Apart from the pasta, their Tomato & Beef Polpetta Risotto is also receiving a lot of hype! The restaurant can get pretty hectic during peak hours, so book ahead.

Operating hours: 12PM-3PM & 6PM-10PM (open daily)
Status: Muslim-friendly

As you can tell by the name, this restaurant specialises in pasta, serving fresh handmade pasta daily! Their best-sellers include The Fish on a Rocket (pasta with pomo-cream sauce and house-smoked salmon), Holly Molly (pasta with 7-hour slow-cooked beef) and Matcha-Made in Atlantis (matcha-infused spaghetti with pesto sauce and seafood).

Their menu is more Italian fusion, adding interesting ingredients such as matcha and tobiko. Dining with someone who doesn’t like pasta? Worry not—they also serve other dishes like appetisers, salads, steaks, and desserts.

Operating hours: 11AM-3PM & 5PM-9PM (Mondays to Thursdays), 11AM-9:30PM (Fridays & Saturdays), 11AM-9PM (Sundays)
Status: Muslim-friendly

Natalina is a modern Roman cuisine restaurant on Avenue K and one of the most high-end places on this list. Their menu offers a wide variety of dishes, from appetisers to main courses and desserts. However, this restaurant is mostly known for its amazing pastas and pizzas.

Some of the most raved-about pasta include their Fettuccine Al Porcini (pasta ribbons with porcini mushrooms, truffle paste, and Roman pecorino) and Rigatoni Alla Norcin (tube pasta with minced lamb and button mushrooms). You should also try their Truffle Pizza, which is known to have very generous toppings, and Seafood Risotto, which is said to be amazingly flavourful.

Operating hours: 12PM-10:30PM (open daily)
Status: Pork-free but some dishes may contain alcohol
