Local celebrity, Hunny Madu, recently showcased the insanely littered Tok Bali beach in Kelantan, where rubbish could be seen as far as the eye can see.

She wrote, “The beach in Tok Bali; Bisikan Bayu Beach in Kelantan is so dirty and filled with rubbish. What was supposed to be a quick stop to get ice cream cos it was a hot day was cancelled, instead we went to the nearby hotel cos our moods changed after seeing this rubbish galore.”

“Why? Can someone tell me why this once beautiful beach is now completely filled with trash?”

Many blamed both the mentality of the people of Kelantan as well as the lack of enforcement by their local authorities.

Being blamed did not sit well with the Kelantan Local Government

According to a report by Astro Awani, the Chairman of the Kelantan Local Government, Housing and Health Committee, Datuk Dr Izani Husin shared that they have hired people to clean the area but the footage shown by the celebrity is allegedly private property that has been badly maintained.

Beach 3

“Although the land on the beach is privately owned, we have instructed the PBT (local authorities) to clean the area.”

“Dirty areas on the beach are mostly private land that is not well maintained. When there is litter, people will take pictures and spread the world to make Kelantan look dirty. So people will blame us (the state government) and this is not fair to us,” he said.

But, even badly maintained areas could be cleaned and kept that way.

Do you think that should be an excuse to allow the area to remain trashed? Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
