A Malaysian food vendor is sharing their dissatisfaction with people calling out their prices in this modern day, as they navigate how to keep their business afloat.

Popular popiah food truck, Bunga Raya Popiah 春興薄饼, took to their Facebook page to urge customers to be more understanding about how they price their food items.

They wrote, “Business these days is not as good as it was before. So, I went and looked at some comments (by customers). Some had good views and suggestions, I have saved them and will make the improvements. I’m very sorry to be talking about this with you, I don’t have time to deal with all of it, but don’t compare us with prices from our parents’ era.”

“It’s already 2025. If we can’t keep up with the increasing costs of materials in the current times, what can I do about that? If I can, I won’t raise the prices at all. But there’s nothing I can do. The prices of everything are rising. Shouldn’t we make money from running a business? Or should we do it for you without earning anything?

They ultimately hope that people will support their business if they can afford to.

“Come if you can come, and I’m sorry if it’s not ‘ngam’ for you. It’s actually better for everyone to move forward in this life. The market is very bad. I have to support my family and a few workers. If you don’t like to see me do that, then don’t come and see me. It’s that simple. I’ll be busy with my life and you can be busy with yours, alright?”

What do you think about this? Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
