During the past few weeks, netizens have been asking: “Where is Kate Middleton?” and Kensington Palace was silent except for a photoshopped picture that was released on UK’s Mother’s Day.
The Princess of Wales released a 2-minute long video on X (formerly known as Twitter) talking about her absence from the public eye amidst all the speculation.
She said that she underwent a major abdominal surgery in January and it was successful. However, tests after the operation showed that cancer was present in her body.
So, the princess was advised to take preventative chemotherapy which she is in the early stages of.
As her having cancer is a very sudden and shocking thing, Kate says that they are trying to process this privately as a family.
“It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment but most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate to them…”
She adds, “As I’ve said to them, I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal in my mind body and spirit.”
Kate Middleton thanked the public for the love and support they have given her and said that she will need time and privacy starting from now.
“We hope that you’ll understand that as a family, we now need some time, space and privacy while i complete my treatment.”
She ended the video by saying that she is thinking of those who are affected by cancer as well, “For anyone facing this disease, in whatever form, please do not lose faith or hope. You are not alone.”
