The Menu Rahmah initiative has been a saving grace to many Malaysians, where they can purchase affordable and filling meals at various locations.
Some of these locations may include non-halal eateries, which has apparently rubbed some the wrong way.
TV Pertiwi took to their Twitter page to share Ketua Wanita Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (ISMA), Shazamawati Zam Hashari’s disapproval over non-halal cuisine being included under the Menu Rahmah initiative.
They wrote, “Non-halal food should not be listed under the Menu Rahmah initiative implemented by the government.”
“According to the Ketua Wanita Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (ISMA), Shazamawati Zam Hashari, it follows the word ‘Rahmah’ which comes from the verses of the Quran and the food does not conform to the characteristics of Islam itself.”
Many were not happy about this as they believe that Menu Rahmah should be for all Malaysians and that the word ‘Rahmah’ means something completely different to them
“‘Rahmah’ is from the Arabic language, Arabs are not all Muslims. Expand your mindset.”
“It’s good that non-Muslims get to know what Rahmah is. Going back to the basics, it doesn’t matter if it’s Menu Rahmah or TIMAH branded drinks, if it’s not halal for you then don’t eat or drink it. Let the non-Muslims have it. There is no need to make this issue big. Does the Women’s Leader need to step down? (Releasing) misleading statements?”
“When her gang was part of the government, they never thought to do something like this. Now their job is to condemn only la. Is there no underprivileged Chinese and Indians? Want to ask them to only eat Malay food?”
What do you think? Should Menu Rahmah only consist of Halal cuisine?
