Malaysians and Indonesian can be seen locking horns for many issues in recent times.
But despite our differences and claims, when helping one another, our differences can be put aside to ensure that the greater good is achieved.
Recently, an Indonesian submarine manned by a 53-strong crew named the KRI Nanggala 402 went missing nearby Bali.
With search and rescue (SAR) efforts currently underway with a joint task force involving the US and Australia, Malaysia too joined the search party, having commissioned TLDM’s MV Mega Bakti to assist SAR efforts.
This was well received by our Indonesian friends, most of whom took to social media to express their gratitude towards Malaysia.

Taking to TikTok, @kang_raket_11 writes, “This is what Malaysia is known for. They care about their neighbours who need assistance.”
“Though there are some who continue to disagree, for others, Malaysia has a big heart for its neighbours.”
Currently, reports suggest that there is still no sign of the stricken vessel and its 53 crew member, with oxygen levels depleting on the German-built sub.
Images of the crew’s last activity have also gone viral on social media, with members of the crew praying together on board the submarine.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the search and rescue efforts currently taking place. Bring them home boys!
