There’s nothing more heart-wrenching than being abandoned by your own family. Although this sadly happens in many places around the world, experiencing it firsthand is truly devastating.
In a recent and tragic story shared via @mynewshub from Indonesia, police discovered the skeletal remains of a 55-year-old mom and her 24-year-old son on their mattress in their home on 29 July (Monday).
Local residents thought they had moved way
According to Detik, the news shocked local residents, who had believed that Iguh Indah Hayati (the mother) and Elia Imanuel Putra (the son) had moved away after their last sighting in 2019.
Residents were not only unaware that the victims were still in the house, but they also did not notice any unpleasant odours coming from the property, which now appears to be abandoned.
Cimahi Police Chief AKBP Tri Suhartanto explained that several factors, including weather and humidity, could contribute to the absence of any suspicious odours.
The messages written on the wall
During the investigation, several writings addressed to Mudjoyo Tjandra, Indah’s husband and Elia’s father, were discovered. These notes were left by Indah and Elia.
“There is indeed evidence to determine the cause of death for the 2 victims. Once we have analysed this evidence, we will be able to provide a clear explanation, as current understandings are still based on perception,” said Tri.
According to Kompas, the writings were found on the walls in the living room and bedroom of the house where the 2 skeletons were found.
One of the writings, allegedly written by Indah, reads,
“If you remarry, I hope you don’t hurt your new wife. I see you’ve already proposed to someone new, right? The one from Ciamis who was in the photo with you, as seen on Hendra Setiawan’s Facebook. The comments mention that you failed in your relationship with your 1st wife, Leony Maria Theressia.”
Elia’s message to his father
Elia was also believed to have left a message on the living room wall. The message reads,
“I only asked for school fees, but you didn’t support me. You told me to reach for my dreams as high as the sky, but you didn’t help with my school fees. I’m sorry I couldn’t be a perfect child, but no one is perfect. Just as you left your wife because you demanded perfection from her, remember that only God is perfect.”
Tri said the writings found on the walls are thought to be the outpourings of Indah and Elia’s feelings before they passed away.
The police are continuing their investigation by gathering various pieces of evidence and interviewing a range of individuals, including the deceased’s relatives and neighbours.
We hope Indah and Elia rest in peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and their family during this difficult time.
