Sometimes in life, there are moments of pure coincidence. Other times, there are instances of sheer luck. But very rarely do these situations meet to produce some of the most unfathomable outcomes that we genuinely cannot believe took place. For one Indonesian politician, however, a similar happening may have just produced one of the most fortunate days of her life.
Indonesian politician Meryl Rouli Saragih recently shared a clip to her TikTok page @merylroulisaragih of herself exercising at a gym. While it may have seemed rather unassuming at first glance, Meryl, who was randomly running on a treadmill by herself suddenly realised the quiet presence of a person running alongside her in the gym – Grammy award-winning singer Ed Sheeran.
“I had the most random morning in the gym. After almost 30 minutes on the treadmill, I turned to my left and who did I see: Ed Sheeran! To make sure, I Googled the position of the tattoos on his arm,” wrote Meryl in a caption across the screen.
Practically gobsmacked by the discovery, Meryl soon realised that Sheeran was in Jakarta to perform at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Main Stadium as part of his The Mathematics Tour 2024. Accordingly, Meryl had realised that Sheeran was due to perform that same night.
Following him around momentarily, Meryl was in pure awe over being just inches away from one of the biggest musical talents in the world, as he continued to run on the treadmill before eventually going to do some weightlifting.
With fans of the artiste going crazy in the comments section, many people expressed how lucky Meryl was to experience such an extraordinary occasion.
“People spend thousands to buy tickets and they don’t even get as near or close to him as this. This is literally being in the same space, the same room, under the same roof as him!” wrote one user in a light-hearted manner.
