A Malaysian woman was left in a heartbreaking situation after her husband allegedly beat her and kicked her out of their marital home in Puchong, leaving her stranded on Chinese New Year’s Eve.
Philanthropist Kuan Chee Heng, more famously known as Uncle Kentang, shared how the woman had no one to turn to following the assault, leading her to seek his urgent assistance.

“I am alone, I am scared, I cannot stay in a hotel alone. I have been kicked out by my husband. My family has gone back to Penang. I want Uncle Kentang to help me. I have no reunion dinner to go to. I have nowhere to sleep,” she told him.
Seeking a home and a job
Uncle Kentang explained that the woman holds a diploma in accounting and had previously worked for a company for five years, managing full sets of accounts.

“She needs work. Her husband beat her severely and kicked her out of their joint marital home in Puchong. She has filed a police report. She is lucky to be alive; in many domestic abuse cases, victims are often left paralysed or killed. Never trust a man who raises his hands to you,” he stated.
“We will house her temporarily and then place her in one of our RM1 houses. I will also seek my family’s approval for her to stay in one of our empty rooms so she can feel a sense of family,” he added.
A gesture of kindness
Beyond providing housing and helping her seek employment, Uncle Kentang took the woman shopping for clothes and provided her with RM650 to settle personal matters.
On Chinese New Year’s Eve, which also happened to be Uncle Kentang’s birthday (16 February), he personally went to collect the woman to help calm her nerves following the terrifying encounter with her husband.
