Many of us, regardless of our races, grew up with Hong Kong Dramas which were broadcasted in the late evening during the early 2000s. A Hong Kong actor, Kenneth Ma visited Malaysia recently, and he had a lot to tell Malaysian fans.
“I have deep feelings for Malaysia”
According to Sin Chew, Kenneth Ma was in a KL Mall yesterday for an event (March 2), where he expressed his gratitude to Malaysian fans who contributed to boosting his career a decade back. This wasn’t Kenneth’s 1st time in Malaysia.
He was here in 2012 when he won his 1st award in Malaysia for his role in The Hippocratic Crush during the TVB Star Awards Malaysia. Kenneth was crowned the winner of the category My Favourite Male TV Character, thanks to the Malaysian fans who voted for him.
Kenneth has been playing leading roles on television since the late 2000s but his victory in 2012 brought his career to another level, and his recognition among fans in Asia also went up.
Thanks to the award in 2012, which also marked his 1st victory in Malaysia, Kenneth, who is 50, said he has since developed feelings for Malaysia, and will always remember the country for the fans who voted for him.
Kenneth’s latest role was George in The Queen of News, which was broadcast in late 2023. The drama has been well-received by fans around the world and for that role, Kenneth secured himself another award, also the courtesy of Malaysian fans – Favourite TVB Actor in Malaysia.
Kenneth also appeared in 3 different dramas in last year alone – namely The Invisibles, Speakers of Law, and The Queen of News, where he played Ocean, Kam-bing-Shun, and George.
In Hong Kong, he was nominated for Best Actor for all 3 roles, but the award was eventually grabbed by Moses Chan for his villainous role in Narcotics Heroes as Man Wah.
We’re glad to know that Kennet remembers Malaysia fondly. Were you one of the fans who voted for him?
