1 of the many ways to tell you’re a Malaysian without saying you’re a Malaysian is through the food. For instance, the love of the king of the fruits, Durian!

Hong Kong actor, Francis Ng is not shy to admit that he is a huge fan of the thorny fruit and during a recent promotional event in China, Francis had something to say about the durians in Malaysia, particularly from Penang.

Francis said 1 of the reasons he loves Penang is because of the quality of the durians there that you can’t get elsewhere, as reported by China Press and Sin Chew Daily.

“The durians in Penang are just too good! So much so that I don’t want to eat the durians from other places. In fact, I feel like flying to Penang now just for the durians.”

Penangites, the king of fruit is NOT just the reason why Francis is so into the place. Let’s just say, you’re part of the reasons too.

“I enjoyed filming in Penang. The place is simple and the people there are welcoming and friendly.”

Coincidentally, at another promotional event in Xi An, China, Francis was surprised with a Grade A Musang King, which was given by one of the fans at the scene who knew his love for the durians.

Francis was expectedly excited and joked about “unboxing” the fruit on the spot.

“We can eat it on the spot. I can remove the skins with my bare hands.”

Francis was promoting his upcoming movie – A Place Called Silence, which was also shot in Penang.

“I’m sure the Malaysian fans, especially those from Penang will enjoy the upcoming thriller flick.”

As for the Malaysian fans who are expecting to see him, Francis said he is likely to visit Malaysia somewhere in August to promote the film. Well, let’s not flock to the place with durians!
