Many people consider Malaysia a beautiful place. It’s not just about the food but also the rich cultural elements, and that’s why it’s important to respect each other’s beliefs.
A YouTuber from Maghribi, Morocco, recently apologised to Malaysians for reciting Quranic verses in front of a temple in Batu Caves, which angered many social users.
In a TikTok post, @abdeentube, the YouTuber Abdeen, revealed that he has received many DMs from social media users about his recitals at Batu Caves. Abdeen, who said he recited Quranic verses everywhere he traveled, had no idea about what Batu Caves meant for Malaysian Hindus.
“Believe me, I didn’t know about the place. I thought it was a historical place, and I didn’t know it was a sacred place for the Hindus,” Abdeen said.
In his video, Abdeen said it was never his intention to disappoint and upset anyone in Malaysia.
“I didn’t know that this matter could hurt the hearts of many people, especially Hindus, and I am sorry for making everyone disappointed.”
Abdeen, however, admitted that he was sad because many people had sent him threatening messages when his intention was just to spread kindness.
Abdeen’s video of himself reciting Quranic verses in Batu Caves also received criticism from the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Malaysia, which deemed it inappropriate.
“It’s a form of disrespect to the multi-racial community in this country,” said the Ministry.
@abdeentube Assalamo alaikom, here is a quick update about my last video in Batu Caves. My sincere apologies again ? #batucaves #islam #religion #malaysia
