201 men were arrested by authorities at a “men-only” spa in Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur, on Friday night (28 November).

One of those detained, a 59-year-old Malaysian man, married with four children, claimed that same-sex activities took place on the premises and explained why he was there.

“I came here to heal and avoid traffic after work. I don’t want to comment on what I do here, but those activities do happen.”

The man, who is also a specialist doctor, admitted that he often visited the spa after work to unwind by using the sauna and jacuzzi, according to Berita Harian.

The raid was a joint operation by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), and the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (JAWI), following two weeks of intelligence gathering. Authorities also seized items such as lubricants and condoms. The premises featured a special “dark room” with a thin black mattress for visitors.

A 19-year-old student was also there following friends’ suggestions

Another detainee was a foreign tourist who said he visited after reading positive reviews online, claiming he was unaware the activities were illegal.

Meanwhile, a 46-year-old man was found with a 19-year-old student, who admitted this was his second visit. He said his first visit lasted about three hours and was driven by curiosity.

Curiosity killed the cat, and the student got hooked on the place.

The case is being investigated under Section 377B of the Penal Code.
