A Singapore hawker stall chain earned praise online after going out of its way just to find a customer who mistakenly overpaid for a meal and return his money.
The hawker stall chain, Ah Gong Teochew Noodle has 3 outlets in Singapore and last Friday (12 May), the business posted on its official Facebook page regarding the overpayment so that the customer can be alerted.
In the Facebook post, the hawker stall chain said that a patron with the surname Ong mistakenly paid SGD400 (RM1348) for an SGD4 (RM13.48) meal via e-payment.
However, the exact outlet where the transaction took place couldn’t be pinpointed, with the only information available being the patron’s surname and that the transaction happened between 12pm to 2.30pm on 12 May.
The post added that if the business failed to find the customer before the end of the year, the SGD396 (RM1335) will be donated to the less fortunate.
Following the post, many netizens in Singapore and Malaysia help spread out the word and Ah Gong Teochew Noodle managed to find the rightful owner of the SGD396.
In an update, the hawker stall chain said that the patron who made the overpayment has been found and thanked everyone for all the help to find him.
Awesome! Kudos to Ah Gong Teochew Noodle for their honesty as they could’ve easily kept quite and kept the overpayment but instead went far and beyond just to find and return the money to the patron.
