With the Chinese New Year ongoing, the heat is still “strong” as many are still celebrating the festive season. But what’s a foreigner’s perspective who spent the CNY in Malaysia?
Hong Kong actor, Philip Keung made it known that he’s a huge fan of celebrating CNY in Malaysia. He has been in Penang since early December for the shooting of the Lock War movie, which has wrapped its production recently. This means that Philip has celebrated both Christmas and CNY in Malaysia with his wife who tagged along.
In his Facebook post recently, Philip, who is also fondly known as Black Gor shared a few images of the celebration night in Penang, and he did not only enjoy his time but seemed to be getting along well with many Malaysians as he spent some time mingling with them. He said that he has made some friends and praised the celebration vibes in Malaysia as it felt like an “authentic CNY celebration”.
“I’m so happy! It’s such a lively celebration!” Philip said.
His happiness in celebrating CNY here has prompted him to make a decision for his future celebrations, to which he said,
“I’m going to celebrate every CNY in Penang next time!”
“How can I resist?”
The season of celebration is not the only thing that’s keeping Philip here. He’s pretty active when it comes to updating his tidbits of life in Malaysia via his social media, and just yesterday (February 1), Philip showed that the food in Penang is also what is “keeping” him here.
After he was done jogging in the morning, he was attracted by the sight and smell of Char Kuey Toew from the stall in front of him.
“I passed by when I was jogging. Tell me, how could I resist?”
“We welcome you, Philip!”
As expected, Facebook updates about his life in Malaysia have made many Malaysians proud, and some of them happily assured the actor that he will always be welcome in Malaysia.
“As Penangites, we welcome you and your wife!”
“Philip and his wife are generous. Despite being unable to take pictures with us, they shook our hands and wished us. They’re friendly and polite. His wife is so pretty. Can’t wait for your movie and thank you for liking Penang.”
“Penang is already crowded, and now with your presence, the more the merrier!”
“Penangites are friendly right?”
“With your presence, I’m foreseeing more tourists and the place getting more recognition.”
“See you next year! I’m going back to Penang next year too for CNY.”
“Black Gor, you have finally experienced the real and authentic feel of CNY.”
Fellow Penangites, Philip has been spending a lot of time in Penang. Have you bumped into him? Do you agree that the CNY celebration in Penang is among the liveliest?
