An incident at a toll plaza caught the attention of Malaysians recently after the height barrier at one of its toll booths was broken by a Toyota Hilux driver carrying metal poles on the vehicle’s cargo bed.
Recorded from inside a car that was passing the toll booth beside the incident, the height barrier of the MyRFID and SmartTAG lane can be seen being essentially snapped in half by the metal poles that were protruding from the cargo bed.
The video was posted on the @viralq Instagram page and has garnered over 406,000 views as of the time of writing.
The video came with no caption, with the exact location of the toll plaza or when it happened not disclosed.
In the 24-second video, the pickup driver can be seen arguing with two toll plaza workers regarding the incident as the person who was recording passed by. Only snippets of the argument can be heard, with what the driver said completely inaudible.
However, the two workers can be heard reprimanding the driver for not being aware that the metal poles can’t pass through the 2.1-metre height limit and for not seeing the height barrier.

In the comments, many criticised the driver for not being aware that the metal poles wouldn’t fit through the toll booth’s height limit and arguing with the workers instead of accepting the blame.
One commenter said that such an occurrence was partly due to the Road Transport Department (JPJ)’s lack of enforcement of transporting items on private vehicles.
Meanwhile, another commenter claimed that most 4-wheel-drive vehicle drivers don’t follow the rules.
